Gamestop to buy eBay? WTF?

Here is my first serious writing in many years.

2026 is a year filled with anxiety for the entire globe. How is that for a Theses Statement? Yep, dead-on. Read on….

Game Stop started selling boxes and packs of ‘cards’ (baseball, etc) around a year ago, perhaps longer. Was recently though. Imagine going to get your video game fix and also grab some stuff to take home and rip! So nice.

This sounds innocent at first, and welcome for collectors around USA. It sounds innocent…… it is not. My theory is this was completely calculated and now being executed by another big corporation looking to control the minds of US Citizens. Yessir. This is what I believe, STRONGLY.

The deal is on the table:
“GRAPEVINE, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)– GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME) today submitted a non-binding proposal to acquire 100% of eBay Inc. (NASDAQ: EBAY) at $125.00 per share in cash and stock. The offer represents a 46% premium to eBay’s unaffected closing price on February 4, 2026, the day GameStop started accumulating its position in eBay. GameStop has built a 5% economic stake in eBay through derivatives and beneficial ownership of common stock. GameStop is filing a Schedule 13D and HSR notification tomorrow. The full proposal letter and accompanying materials are available at investor.gamestop.com/ebay.” –source

Yes, this happened TODAY. Amazing.

What does this mean to the collecting community? I have mixed emotions about the notion of Gamestop owning eBay. But, I guarantee you if this happens that Fanatics and them will team together for something at some point. This could be a great move for the future of eBay, as it has horrible customer service and more issues than you can shake a stick out.

Platforms come and go, but when you see someone forking over that much for a company, you know they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. eBay is one of the top 10 websites of all-time, and for a good reason.

Worth noting:

eBay works now directly with PSA grading. Combine this with what I just shared with you in this post, it becomes somewhat perplexing. Just chew on this for a bit. I don’t think the deal will go through. -PeterD
